Bombay Sunset is a small firm, but we are ready to do the right thing.
Becoming Carbon Neutral in 2021
“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.”
People say that if you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere, and we couldn't agree more. This is why we have decided to go carbon neutral in 2021.
There is a great deal of misinformation when it comes to sustainability. Actually, lots of brands are just throuwing the word around in their marketing campaigns and we are completely against this.
So far, we have already offset 9 tonnes of CO2 this year!
Humanitarian projects in Spain and India
We believe in education as a fundamental right to help protect those who are most vulnerable. This is why we support projects that have improved the lives of over 200,000 people in Spain, India and Perú.
Our donations contribute towards great projects by the Esperanza and Alegria Foundation, and include:
- The Cojah Hospital and medical mobile unit (INDIA)
- The SNEHA JYOTI Center for Orphaned and/or Abandoned Children with AIDS (INDIA)
- Delivery of basic foods in El Pozo del Tio Raimundo (SPAIN)
According to The Forestry Commission’s Woodland Carbon Code, you need around 6 trees to offset 1 metric tonne of CO2 over a 100 year period.
A carbon offset is the reduction of CO2 emissions by reduction or compensation.
Bombay Sunset conducts research about CO2 emissions in all areas of our business, even those external to us.
This way, we can ensure to account every source of carbon emissions, that we divide into three areas:
Level 1: Sources of emissions that can be controlled by us
Fuel and gas consuption from all of our fixed locations such as our office, and petrol consumption of our company vehicle.
Level 2: Indirect emissions
Consumption from the energy grid.
Level 3: Indirect emissions caused by our activity
Shipping of products that are originated by the courier but because of our activity, or even the shipping of goods that is caused when you purchase a Bombay Sunset jewel from websites other than bombaysunset.com
The estimated CO2 emissions of an individual in the Western world are around 24 tonnes a year, which means we should all plant around 4 trees a year and those trees should be alive for a 100 years just to offset the effect of each one of us for a year.
In a lifetime, the estimated carbon emissions generated by an individual stand at 1632 metric tonnes.
Scary, right? This is why it's so important that we take action NOW and get organized.
